Meet The Artist

Ron Warren is a sculptor, retired Neurosurgeon and lifelong artist.

Through forty years of practice in Neurosurgery, Ron developed an acute understanding of the subtle movements of the body and a deep knowledge of human anatomy. He credits an intuitive appreciation of form in a three dimensional space as the foundation for his passion for figurative sculpture which in turn contributed to and enhanced his surgical career.

A childhood fascination with creating model airplanes and period ships led to an obsession with sculpture: He carved soap, apple cores, chunks of wax, pumpkins, wood, clay—any substance he could shape. This led to an interest in carpentry and wood-carving until Ron discovered his passion for clay figurative sculpture as the ideal medium to express his creative voice.

Ron honed his sculptural techniques with training at The Art Students League of New York, The Newton Arts Center, The Center for Adult Education in Cambridge and long hours in his own studio. Splitting his time between the Backbay in Boston and his studio in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, he casts his clay pieces in resin and bronze in collaboration with local artisans.
