Meet The Artist

Ron Warren is a sculptor, retired Neurosurgeon and lifelong artist who always thinks in three dimensions.

Through forty years of practice in Neurosurgery, Ron developed an acute mastery of the subtle movements of the body and vast knowledge of human anatomy. He credits an intuitive appreciation of the 3D form as the foundation for his parallel careers in both sculpture and medicine.

As with many artists, it all began in childhood. From a young age, Ron’s fascination with building complex model airplanes and period ships led him to sculpture: He carved bars of soap, apple cores, chunks of wax, pumpkins, wood, clay—any substance that could be shaped. His hands never stopped moving.

This led to Ron’s interest in fine carpentry and wood-carving, followed by his discovery of clay figurative sculpture —what proved to be the ideal medium to express his creative voice.

Ron honed his sculptural technique with training at The Art Students League of New York, The Newton Arts Center, The Center for Adult Education in Cambridge and long hours in his own studio. Ron is a proud 2024 Finalist in The Berkshire Museum’s “Art of the Hills” competition, where only the top 3% of submitted works were recognized for exhibition in the museum’s galleries.

Splitting time between Boston’s Backbay and the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Ron casts his clay pieces in resin and bronze in collaboration with local artisans.
